January can be such a bland tiring month, especially in Michigan – when it is cold and there is no snow. Lucky for me Santa brought me a Canon Macro 100mm lens – YaWho! Along with the bright idea to visit the botanical gardens it was a wonderful opportunity to practice with the new lens. The Gardens turned out to be more refreshing then I could have imagined. Warm and fragrant, reminiscent of glorious summer days. I actually thought the succulent (cactus) area was going to be prove to be most boring. I was proven WRONG. The cactus occupy the least amount of space in the observatory area and are the most GLORIOUS, vibrant, interesting and colorful of the plants on display!
